Burton International Academy shall provide parents of participating Title I children, if requested by parents, opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of their children, and respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible 1118 (c) (4) (C);

§ Monthly PTA/PACSA meetings are used as a forum for parent suggestions and to answer parent questions.

Burton International Academy shall jointly develop with parents and teachers a School/Parent/Student Compact. The compact will outline ways in which the parents, school staff, and students will work together to ensure high student academic achievement. The compact will be reviewed and discussed during parent-teacher conferences 1118(d) (1) & (d) (2) (A):
§ Parent/Teacher/Student Compact is revised annually at September School-Wide Title I meeting.
§ Feedback and revision will include the Executive Board of the PTA/PACSA, principal, parents and teachers.
§ Parent/Teacher/Student Compact will be distributed, reviewed and discussed during the annual Open House, PTA/PACSA meetings and Parent Teacher Conferences.

- The annual School-Wide Title I meeting will be held on the fourth Tuesday of September during the first PTA/PACSA meeting.
- Parents will be notified by newsletter, telephone using blackboard connect automated system, and social networking. Particular attention shall be given to reaching those parents who are economically disadvantaged, are disabled, have limited English proficiency, have limited literacy, or are of any racial or ethnic minority background.
- At the first PTA/PACSA meeting, parents will review the Parent Involvement Policy, School Compact, School Education Report, and Title I Programs and Budget.
- Parents will be given an overview of the Title I program: purpose of Title I funding and Title I budget for Burton International Academy. Parents will give input regarding budget spending for the year and the allowable Parent Involvement Funds.
- Parents will sign and receive documentation regarding Title I School-Wide Parental Involvement Policy, School-Parent Compact, and Annual School Education Report.

- During the annual School-Wide Title I meeting, timely information and opportunities will be given to parents to attend regular School Improvement meetings to plan, review, and evaluate improvement of School-Wide Title I programs. A description and explanation of the school curriculum, assessment, and proficiency levels will also be given to parents.
- Parents will meet twice yearly (September/January) at Title I meetings to review and update the Parent Involvement Policy and Compact. Parents will also receive school performance profiles and their child’s individual assessment results, including an interpretation of results.
- Parents will be surveyed at the Title I meetings (September/January) and receive previous survey results and give feedback regarding the programs of the previous year.
- Parent Resource binders that include the School Improvement Plan, School-Parent Compact, and the Parent Involvement Policy will be maintained in the Main Office and the Parent Room.
- Burton Staff will offer a timely response, within two weeks, to any parent suggestions.
